Celine Nasr

Celine recently graduated from Carleton University with a Combined Honours in Neuroscience and Biology. She completed her Honours research project in the Hildebrand Lab, investigating the expression of the serotonin subtype receptor 5HT2C in spinal cord regions involved in chronic pain modulation. Celine also published a paper in the CUJS examining the role of neuroinflammation in schizophrenia, stress, and depression, and the need for novel therapeutics beyond traditional pharmaceuticals. She is very passionate about neuroscience and brain research. Her goal is to contribute to research on mental illnesses, especially schizophrenia, with a particular focus on improving the quality of life and functional independence of vulnerable populations. Her hope is that through this work, she can contribute to solutions directed towards the homelessness crisis in Canada. Outside of research, Celine work as the general manager at a local juice and dessert bar in Ottawa. She is also a painter, loves music and literature, and plays the violin in her spare time.
